Teen Individual Psychotherapy
Individual therapy will be tailored to the developmental, emotional, and social needs of your teen. My core focus is to offer your teen a private outlet to voice concerns without fear of judgment from peers or family, while equipping teens with evidence-based coping strategies for intense emotions, relationship conflict, and self-esteem.

Depending on what we are working on, our sessions may draw upon the following core modalities:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Focuses on identifying and reframing negative thought patterns to improve feelings and behaviors.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Teaches mindfulness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance; highly effective for intense moods and self-harming behaviors.
Humanistic / Person-Centered: Provides a deeply empathetic, non-judgmental space to help you connect with your own innate wisdom and define your personal goals.

The foundation of my approach involves improving your teen’s self-esteem. Your teenager's self-esteem is not just a personality trait. It is the literal foundation of their development. It directly empowers them to set firm, respectful boundaries with peers and gives them the intrinsic motivation needed to maintain healthy, lifelong habits—from prioritizing sleep and nutrition to practicing digital safety.
If self-esteem is an area of focus for your teen, then my focus will be two-fold: first, we will investigate the root causes of their current self-esteem struggles to understand the underlying triggers. Second, we will actively fortify their self-worth, giving them the emotional tools and resilience to navigate adolescence with confidence.

When counseling minors, I maintain the same standard of confidentiality as with adults and will seek parental involvement only for purposes of safety, including any limitation to confidentiality. I strive to maintain a layer of privacy to create a safe space for therapeutic treatment to occur, and I will make every effort necessary to notify the minor of my intention to disclose information. All other communication with parents will consist of general updates on treatment progress.
